World Strokeplay Championship 2017 was held at Le Robinie Golf Club, in Lombardy. The event, from 30 March to 2 April, has attended by 120 players representing 14 nations: Austria, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cuba, Denmark, England, France, Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Portugal, San Marino and Spain.
World Strokeplay Championship 2017 was held at Le Robinie Golf Club, in Lombardy. The event, from 30 March to 2 April, has attended by 120 players representing 14 nations: Austria, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cuba, Denmark, England, France, Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Portugal, San Marino and Spain.
Among the various delegations, particularly interesting was Cuba that has participated through the Ministry of Sports, even if in absence of a Golf or a Pitch & Putt Federation. The first day it was held a charity tournament dedicated to “April 6 - World International Day of Sport for Development and Peace”. IPPA is a partner of Peace and Sport and Wsc 2017 has been included as the main Italian event on the official calendar. The tournament was attended by 72 players and it was won by the Sammarinese Giulio Caramaschi. To mention the welcome participation of Matilde Padoan, athlete of Special Olympics Italia.
The second day, 120 athletes for the 18 holes tournament. To excel was the Spanish Marroquin Javier, followed by the Irish Ian Farrelly and Cuban Mendez Diaz Idolio. The first Italian was Panza Leonardo, and among ladies, first was the French player Roux Ghislaine.
On 1st April, the competition was intense due to 2 rounds of 18 holes each. The 3rd round classification determined the final 72 finalists. Luis Montero, from Spain, dominated the partial, followed by the Dutch Kwant Rolf.
After three days of competition the winner of World Strokeplay Championship 2017 Italy was Kwant Rolf, from Netherlands, followed by three Spanish players. On Senior category the winner was always Kwant Rolf and on Super Senior was italian Fernando Proietti.
The players were rewarded by the three times gold medalist and Ministry of Sport and Youth of Lombardy Region, Antonio Rossi, the Olympic gold medal Valerio Aspromonte and the World fencing Champion Carolina Erba.
